About

Dr Sukhpreet Singh is a Lecturer in Marketing at The Media School, and, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and Management (The Business School).


Dr Singh's research interests include global media management and intellectual property rights policy in cultural industries. He has been a university lecturer and researcher since 2002, teaching courses such as media management and services marketing. Dr Singh also takes an active interest in the marketing of international higher education, with a particular focus on institutional partnerships with India.


Prior to joining academia, Dr Singh has acted as a marketer with service industry majors such as Taj Hotels (part of the Tata Group); and as an acculturation consultant for blue chip companies including JP Morgan Chase. In January 2009, the National Association of Television Production Executives (NATPE, USA) invited Dr Singh to be a NATPE Educational Fellow.


Dr Singh is a full member of i) European Media Management Education Association, and ii) International Society for the History and Theory of Intellectual Property.


Recent Research Projects:


* 2011, Govt. of North Rhine-Westfalia funded 'The Frapa Report 2011 - Protecting Format Rights'. (co-authored with Olswang, London).


* 2011, DACS funded 'Copyright contracts and earnings of visual creators: A survey of 5,800 British designers, fine artists, illustrators and photographers'. (co-authored with Prof. Martin Kretschmer from Bournemouth University, and Prof. Lionel Bently & Dr. Elena Cooper from Cambridge University).


* 2009, ESRC funded 'Exploitation of TV Formats - Intellectual Property and Non-law based Strategies.' (co-authored with Prof. Martin Kretschmer and Jon Wardle).
