Thesis Title: 'The experiences of Polish migrant workers in the UK hospitality industry'.
About
I am a Senior Lecturer in Human Resources & Employability in the School of Tourism at Bournemouth University (UK), where I lecture in People & Performance, Event Design & Production as well as Research Methods.
Following completion of my PhD on the experiences of Polish migrants in the UK hospitality industry at Bournemouth University, I have continued interest in migration of Poles; their networks, motivations, careers, adaptation and employment experiences. I am also developing research into the role of EU and tourism, the events sector and HR and netnography. I have published in a range of journals, such as Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Tourism, Culture and Communication and The International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.
I am keen to build bridges between researchers and practitioners working in different disciplines, institutions or industries. My research interests contribute to local policy making with regards to migrant workers and I have been invited to talk about my research on migrant workers across different disciplines. I have attended numerous conferences and workshops in the areas of migration, tourism, hospitality and events.
My PhD is entitled ‘The experiences of Polish migrant workers in the UK hospitality industry’ and was completed in 2009 (Bournemouth University, UK). My prior degrees are a Master of Science in Tourism, Development and Policy (University of Exeter, UK) and a Master of Arts in Theatre Studies (University of A. Mickiewicz, Poznan, Poland).
