About
I am currently a Ph.D. research student at the Centre for Finance and Risk at Bournemouth University. I completed all my prior higher education at the same university. I intend to become a part time lecturer in Accounting and Business in the near future while carrying out my research. I hope to work within Wealth Management and Consultancy in the long term.
The main objective of my research is to investigate the extent of KPI disclosures by UK companies comprising the largest private and public listed firms. The study also investigates whether ownership structure, corporate governance mechanisms, company specific characteristics and market variables influence the extent of disclosure by these companies. The main statistical techniques that will be employed include the Index Research methodology and the Ordinary Least Squares Regression Analysis. This research will contribute by increasing our understanding of disclosure practices of private companies which has been neglected by previous researchers particularly in the UK. The study will also contribute to our knowledge of whether there are any differences in the extent of disclosure between private and public listed companies. From a policy making perspective, the research will provide evidence as to whether ownership structure, corporate governance and company specific characteristics influence the extent of KPIs disclosure by private and public listed companies in the same way.
